Grid map with colored filled squares marking walls and lettered location labels

Skara Brae Style

This map is an example of a map style one might employ in a game like Bard's Tale ®. This map style is very reliant on filling in squares with colors to denote walls, uses text and a legend for identifying locations.

Line-based dungeon map with wall strokes and door symbols drawn on cell edges

Azure Bonds Style

This map is an example of how SSI created maps in their manuals. It was very reminiscent to how TSR® created maps in their modules in the 80s and 90s utilizing lines for walls and doors on the edges of walls.

Grid map with gray filled wall cells and door blocks occupying full squares

Eye of the Beholder® Style

This map is an example of how SSI created maps in their manuals and hint books. It is sort of a blend of Skara Brae and Azure Bonds, where filled-in colored cells are walls, and doors are placed as blocks, as the doors are a "step" in the map and not on the edge of a wall.
